Username is a feature on Gaia Online. The purpose of a name someone chooses to use in order to represent themselves on a computer or while on the internet.[1]

General usage[]
On Gaia Online, a username can (sometimes) define a User(Gaian) and their personal theme. It allows others to search for a specific User and find their posttings. A username will appear in bold black, if it's a friend it will appear blue. They appear above the Avatar and User title. Some usernames such as the Gaia staff have colored usernames. They also have a title under their name, denoting what they do.

These are the colors used for usernames and user titles, these are copied from Gaia verbatim.
- Orange : Administrators
- Admin Lead - This user is an official staff member of GaiaOnline
- Green : Site Moderators, Global Moderators and Omni Moderators
- Site Moderator - This user is an official staff member of GaiaOnline
- Omni Moderator - This user is an official staff member of GaiaOnline
- Pink : Forum Assistants
- Forum Assistant - This user is an official staff member of GaiaOnline
- Brown : Artists, developers and other staff
- Staff - This user is an official staff member of GaiaOnline
- Developer - This user is an official staff member of GaiaOnline
- Chili Brown : Non-player characters [NPC]
- This user is an official NPC of GaiaOnline
- Black : Regular users
- Community Member - This user is a community member
- Blue : Friends
- Your Friend - This user is a community member and your friend
Settings explained[]
In the Account Settings a user is given the option of changing their name, the first 2 changes are free while 10,000 gold is compounded for every extra change. Prior to 2010, those who used up the ability to change their name for free use to quests for gold in order to pay the fee to change their name.
